Easy-to-Read Chinese Short Stories, Book 3

This is the third book in the series.

Since 2021, MSL Master has invited Chinese language learners worldwide to participate in an annual event, Chinese Writing Contest. Entries are limited to using 320 Chinese characters only. 

In 2023, 23 entries were received. After a public vote, the best 10 were included in this book. These aspiring writers are from Trinidad and Tobago, South Korea, Switzerland, Malaysia, and more.

What made these stories significant is the rise of generative AI, such as ChatGPT, which can churn out wonderful stories at simple commands. Indeed, AI is so powerful that people are questioning what advantages humans still have.

This Chinese Writing Contest proves that humans do have an advantage. We can write with constraints. Hence, every participant in this contest accomplished something that AI can not do.

We’re happy to publish the best of these participants and celebrate their ingenuity.

Each work is presented in simplified Chinese, followed by versions in pinyin and English. These works are also available in a free audiobook that can be found below
