About This Book
This book is designed for students who can carry on more advanced conversations and have acquired 300-400 basic Chinese characters. This is where they start acquiring a large number of Chinese characters quickly and moving towards Chinese proficiency.
The structure of the book includes ten chapters with each addressing one advanced topic, two reviews for students to reflect and to consolidate their learning, and one section of key vocabularies for quick references.
Each chapter starts with a speaking and writing exercise related to the topic to be discussed, followed by interesting and short Chinese texts introducing new words and sentence patterns. There are many opportunities for students to comment and to write, helping students make both of their conversation and writing more comprehensive.
Comparing with the previous Intro and Basic Levels in the series, this is the first book that pinyin is removed, and students are invited explicitly to contribute to the class through discussions and presentations.
