How Does It Work

Chinese Reading and Writing 2 is designed for non-Chinese speakers to continue building up their Chinese reading and writing foundations. It is also a viable solution for heritage learners, who speak Mandarin Chinese well, but do not know many Chinese characters.

This Chinese writing course teaches 50 new Chinese characters, which bring students’ knowledge of Chinese characters to 120.

Illustrations of all 120 characters’ usages include sentences, conversations and stories. The focus remains on reading and writing meaningful texts. Whether or not students are following any particular stroke orders is not essential in this course.

Additional worksheets are provided to further practice the learned characters and words.

Chinese Learning Pen is an audio tool which allow students to play any part of the texts in the book. It is instrumental in accelerating their character recognition process and improving their pronunciations.

On completing this course, students will be able to read more expressive Chinese texts, and to write their own stories and conversations. Learning characters will become a very powerful tool for students to have in-depth understanding of Chinese language.

Evaluation of Progress

A review chapter is in place at the end of the book. This is where learnings are consolidated and assessed. How well students complete the exercises in the review chapter demonstrates their progress.
