April Zhang

April Zhang is the founder of MSL Master and she enjoys teaching and interacting with students. She constantly explores new and interesting ways of teaching Chinese through creative and imaginative activities.

With her help, many students have achieved outstanding result, which has enriched their understanding about China and has significantly contributed to their work.

She wrote two series of Chinese textbooks, Mandarin Express series and Chinese Reading and Writing series, which are relevant and highly effective for non-Chinese speakers to learn Mandarin Chinese. She also adapted the two series of textbooks into video and audio lessons to enable more students to learn Chinese wherever they are.

April is glad to share her experiences with fellow Chinese teachers worldwide. She has written many articles related to Chinese teaching and learning, and presented her papers in many conferences.

When she is not focused on teaching and learning Chinese, she writes for newspapers on a wide range of topics. Check out the following two published in South China Morning Post:

During her early career, she taught English to Chinese speakers, and later turned her focus to teaching Mandarin to non-Chinese speakers. Her experience as a bilingual teacher has given her insight on the process of learning and how cultural differences affect learning outcomes.

April has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and an MA in Cultural and Literary Studies. Influenced by these two opposite and yet related fields, her work exemplifies a well structured system, which is both effective and efficient, and is also firmly embedded with cultural relevance and art appreciation.
