Hello, 2023! Hello, new office!

What has magnificent 2023 brought us?

A new office!

MSL Master just moved in to its brand new office, located at Bonham Strand. It’s a very lively neighbourhood with so many restaurants, shops and convenient stores. It is very close to the old neighbourhood where the previous office was, about five minutes on foot, yet it’s so different. It is definitely appropriate to say 新年新气象!

The old office had served us well for many many years. Countless Mandarin lessons and exciting things had happened there, as well as new ideas, new products and interesting conversations. It did a good job and it was time for the old office to retire from the scene. 

A new environment has been brought forward by the new office which is full of potential. 

It took me a while to look around for different options. This one came out as the best. Once the decision was made, things moved quickly.

The most difficult part was packing and unpacking all the books. During the process, with some lingering sadness, I discarded three paper dictionaries. One of them was particularly big, and definitely thicker than a brick. These were all good dictionaries, and I had kept them for ages. Unfortunately I had not used them for many years. They were just sitting there inside the bookcase. The inevitable finally happened and the time came for me to say goodbye to these dictionaries.

After the hard part is over, I get to thoroughly enjoy this vibrant neighbourhood, the new office, and welcome the year 2023. 

The location of the new office is unbeatable. It’s a minute away from Sheung Wan subway station exit A2 and many bus stops are nearby. 

Also, this office is literally new. 

The landlord has just renovated the entire floor, and everything looks nice. There is a little corner made available for water, tea and coffee. The common area is spacious, perfect for conferences and events. In fact, on my first day in the office, Dec 30, I witnessed Cathy Pacific cabin crew union members held a press conference right here, voicing their demands and their plans for industrial action during the Chinese New Year. Later the same day this event had a minute of coverage in the evening news on TV. 

It was kind of exciting.

Of course, the best news and the most important is that students gave their thumbs up to this new place.

Now back to business.
