Join the discussion: What is your opinion on our dependence on smartphones?

I use my phones often.

While it offers great benefits, the excessiveness is not good. My solution is to block certain time periods for me to be phone free.

I’m not alone. The double edged effect of smartphones has become a hot topic everywhere. If you’d like to share your opinion, come and join the next “What Is Your Opinion” session.

This is really a very broad topic with so many things connected to the use of smartphones.

For example, mental health issues. New laws were passed to ban young people from using social media to protect their wellbeing. Do you agree?

Another example, privacy. Your smartphones contain all the information about you. To what extent are you concerned about your personal data?

Also, smartphones have proved that they’re pretty good at distracting people from other more important tasks. What is your solution?

Other areas include how we communicate with friends and families, how smartphones are used to help students learn Chinese, and so on.

If you have interesting ideas about all that is going on about smartphones, and also love a chance to practice speaking about them in Mandarin, this is your chance.

Details about this session is below:

More about this course:

“What Is Your Opinion” is a platform for high level Chinese language learners to share their views and thoughts on a wide range of events which are shaping our world, and of course, to practice speaking Mandarin as well.

This course is a natural extension for students who have completed the Mandarin Express series (or equivalent) and would like to have a platform to further their study by engaging in topical discussions.

It’s best for students who are interested in world events, including but not solely about events which China’s stances influence the outcome.
